In order to accomplish our mission the Taylor University Center for Ethics will focus on several areas. We will begin by laying a foundation for the following initiatives:
- Faculty Training: Taylor faculty will be equipped to incorporate ethical analysis into every subject in the curriculum. This will be achieved through focused faculty development initiatives.
- Residential Programs: TUCE will help students to grow in moral insight and personal integrity by incorporating ethical training in student leadership programs and residence hall activities.
- Visiting Scholars: Faculty and students will interact with leading scholars in Christian ethics, as the Center brings ethicists to campus for extended visits.
- Ethics Bowl: TUCE will support the Taylor Ethics Bowl team, which is a two-time regional champion and consistently competes well nationally, where it is typically the only Christian team. The students involved are impacted for a lifetime as they become rigorous ethical thinkers and learn to present a Christian view of ethics to the world.
In preparation for the above initiatives, TUCE will develop an assessment tool to assess the moral understanding and practice of Taylor students. This will provide insight as to their ethical needs and how best to prepare them to be the morally mature servant leaders we want them to be.
TUCE will also form an advisory committee, comprised of people across the nation can provide input regarding the various initiatives of the Center. This will include experts from the academy, the church, and the workplace.
