Why Create The Center?
Taylor University desires to address the moral needs of our society as a part of our mission to develop student leaders who minister Christ’s redemptive love and truth to our world. Servant leaders who will address the needs of our world need a firm foundation for making ethical decisions and living moral lives. Taylor University addresses critical moral issues through specific courses in ethics in several departments. And ethical issues are increasingly emphasized outside of the classroom from faculty development initiatives to the honors program to Taylor’s Ethics Bowl team. But we need to do more.
The Taylor University Center for Ethics will help the university to integrate ethics and moral discernment intentionally into every classroom and every part of the life of the university. We will challenge our students with the best of Christian moral thinking and help them to integrate that into how they live within the Taylor community. This intentional emphasis on ethics will help them to be prepared to be effective servant leaders in today’s world.
